GS Weddings: Consider The First Look

insta

By this time, I’m sure most have heard of the “First Look” concept on a Wedding Day.  A very modern notion of when the Bride and Groom get to see each other prior to the ceremony. From a traditional stand point, I can definitely understand why couples would opt to skip the First Look and wait to see each other for the first time when walking down the aisle. Truth be told, I personally was not fond of the First Look idea….. but that was probably the fairytale lover in me. However, once I ventured into Wedding Photography I not only fell in love with the whole First Look part of a wedding but understood how beneficial it is for the wedding timeline. It is a beautiful moment between the Bride and Groom and also allows me the time needed to get those gorgeous couple portraits that every couple wants. All pros aside…. this idea is still not for everyone. But if you are on the fence about it here are my personal thoughts on the idea 😉

Sharing Your First Moments Together

Before the emotions and events of the day begin to happen, there’s something so peaceful  of enjoying a romantic moment before hand as a sort of “kick off” for the day. The difference of him seeing you before the Ceremony rather than while you’re walking down the aisle is that you can actually have a conversation…. and ladies, we all want to know “OMG, what does he think of my dress??” 😉

You Are Photo Ready

Let’s face it, your couple portraits are going to be the most important photos of the day so you definitely want to look your best – a.k.a. before the tears – so the First Look allows for you to put your freshly-makeup’d face forward. The excitement of getting into your dress is still there, the joy over what’s to come is at an all time high….. who better to share that with than the man you’ll be sharing your whole life with? Exactly!

Timing Is Everything

As much as we all push to remain on schedule, it’s a given that sometimes that just doesn’t happen. Your couple portraits should not fall victims of a time issue…. enter the First Look. Making it a point to ensure that your portraits are done early in the day will give you that warm fuzzy feeling that if photo time is cut short you’ve already been there, done that 😉

Whatever moment you choose to have your future husband see you for the first time, know that it will be spectacular! There is no right or wrong way of doing things…. there’s simply what’s right for you as a couple. So don’t be afraid to try new things because it just might end up being picture perfect 😉

Holla!
